Institute Profile
PAIAS was conceived and founded in 1995. In the middle of the eighth month of
that year we established a basic Internet presence. Since then we have attracted
controversy, anger that we were “questioning” science
and mathematics (amazingly, almost all of it from leading, if not famous, scientists), pleas
for “indulgences” (e.g. to be allowed to teach the standard belief that lighter and
heavier bodies fall at the same rate, even if the
equations show that they
don’t), all sorts of theory sharing, and even some genuine interest and
encouragement (mostly from professors emeritus, who no longer felt afraid to
defy the academic establishment by supporting questioning and serious fault finding, and amazingly
even from one relatively
famous mathematical historian).
We are still very small, with only one main contributor. We hope this
will change soon, as people come to realize the importance of this work to
science and mathematics, and to society.
